A Different Kind of Tip

I'm recommending that you spend some money on, of all things, some music.

I bumped into a song called Impossible Times from an album called Spritual Town by Cliff Howard.  It was one of those instant, 'I love this song!' moments and what I tend to do when one of those occurs is to buy the album and worry about the rest of the songs later....So I did!

After my extravagant $15 purchase, (I didn't get it online, see below.) I listened to track number 4 a couple of times and then went back to the beginning and played it through.  It's great.  An Americana album with Blues, Country, layered guitars harmonicas and all things USA in its fabric.  So imagine my surprise when I found out that this guy Cliff Howard is a fellow Limey!

It starts with the title track Spiritual Town which is a song about Nashville.  It kind of preps you for what is to come!

Track two is exactly what it says in the title, Flood Street Blues.  The story of an old guy living in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit.

Help Me Get It Right is a relationship song and you need to pay attention, because relationship songs always have at least one piece of wisdom to help to get you through the day!

Impossible Times 'I love this song!'

Waiting For The Dream  Not my cup of tea.  I might be a grower though!  If it does I'll let you know...

Look for Peace.  Like it says, a peace song.  Straight out of Haight-Ashbury in the late 1960's.

Columbus Avenue.  Jazzy Californian number.  I'm suddenly wondering is this album a Road Album, you know, the musical equivalent of Thelma & Louise and Vanishing Point.  Oh dear I hope not, we all know how they ended!

One More Time.  Rock & Roll USA!  Tell me baby!

Lonesome Wind.  A Country Song about inclement weather.  A lot more pleasant than the weather.

Tell Me It's Alright.  Number two in my hit parade from the album.  Great harmonies and guitars....."It's alright!"

All Messed Up.  Ear Worm Warning.  This is one you'll find yourself singing for no apparent reason whatsoever at the most inappropriate moment.  I have no idea why!

Private Soldier Blues.  Anti-war Rock 'n' Roll.  I know that 'shoes' and 'blues' is traditional, but I really think when this song is sung live it should be 'boots' and 'blues'  Artistic licence is allowed!

In conclusion, great album.  My advice is buy it, listen, & enjoy!

I've put in all the links because there's the possibility that there's soon to be a link tax, so I'm getting them in for free while I still can.

Rock And Roll!
